Shelter Medicine Day

Last Wednesday we hosted our first Shelter Medicine Day at the centre.

This was a fantastic day where members of Nottingham Vet School Shelter Medicine Society had the opportunity to come and join us for the day.

The ten enthusiastic vet students were able to get really hands on, under the supervision of our centre vet Jo and our veterinary team. They were able to help out with all aspects of our veterinary care including examinations, neutering and anaesthesia.

The students learnt about the centre, what it’s like working for a charity and had a tour of our centre and it’s fantastic facilities. Of course, this included meeting plenty of our lovely animals on site, which was great socialisation for them too!

We had some excellent feedback from the students and we are very pleased to announce that will be hosting the Shelter Medicine Day every month from now on. Education is a huge part of what we do at RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre and this is another great way that we can work with the vets of the future.

Helping vets to understand our work and the challenges we face means we can all work together for the benefit of animals in need.
