Temporary changes to our adoption process due to Covid19

Unfortunately it is highly unlikely lockdown restrictions will be lifted over the next few weeks. With this in mind our adoption procedures must continue under the Covid guidelines issued by DEFRA whilst these restrictions remain in place.

As such you are not permitted to travel from outside the area for the purpose of adoption until these restrictions are lifted.

With this mind we are currently having to prioritise adoption forms to those living within an approximate 15 miles of Radcliffe Animal Centre so animals may be transported by key workers where necessary.

We realise this will cause disappointment for some but it is vital we all follow legal guidelines in order to fight the Covid virus.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. We look forward to welcoming you back to visit the centre when it is safe to do so.

The health and safety of our staff, volunteers and members of the public is of utmost importance to us. We cannot adopt animals to homes where a member of the household is showing symptoms of or has a confirmed case of Covid-19, or has been identified as clinically vulnerable or shielding.

We are currently operating a, DEFRA approved, temporary adoption process due to Covid-19. This means we will be using a remote matching process to begin with and you may not see animals pictured on the website in the usual way.

At the moment we are matching applications to animals in our care, as and when they become available for adoption. We will contact you in due course if we think we have a suitable animal for you.

Please note we are caring for a high number of animals pending legal proceedings so we are limited as to what can be offered for adoption at this time.

If you are interested in adopting an animal, please complete the adoption form below or contact the centre by telephone, 0115 855 0222 or email(info@rspca-radcliffe.org.uk) to discuss an animal you may be looking for.

Please note that there is no general viewing of our animals at this time.

Please be aware that the availability of animals will be subject to change as animals become reserved and new ones become available.

We please ask you to be patient and supportive during this time. Our new measures have been introduced to protect and the health and safety of our staff and the general public.

Step 1

Complete the appropriate application form below.

Dog Adoption Form

Cat Adoption Form

Rabbit/Small Animal Adoption Form

Adoption prices are as follows:

Dog £165.00

Cat £100.00

Rabbit £35.00 / Bonded pair of rabbits £50.00

Guinea Pig £15.00

Any other small animal for a suitable donation.

Step 2

You will receive an email or phone call from us and the application process will be completed via phone and email. You may be asked to provide photos or video of your home where appropriate.

We will discuss as much information as we know about an animal available for adoption. This will include all our behavioural and veterinary observations.

If you wish to proceed, there will be some information to read and sign. This will be done electronically and secure payment taken over the phone for the adoption and essential animal care package.

Step 3

Owners will receive ongoing support by email/telephone from the animal centre following adoption. This may include a post adoption home visit which will be carried out when current movement and other restrictions have been lifted.

Please ensure you have thought about the long term commitments of owning an animal and can continue its care once you return to work and other activities post Covid-19.
